Our Top Tips For Foodies - Eateries In & Around Llandrindod, Builth & Beyond.

Now more than ever we need to be championing our local eateries. Restaurants, café’s and pubs have been some of the hardest hit businesses during the COVID19 crisis, with many sadly having to close their doors.

Here in Mid-Wales, with our small towns and sparce population, it is even more vital that we champion these local food providers if we want them to continue to operate for years to come (and we really really do!)

I wanted to put this Eating Out Guide together to highlight what we consider some of the very best foodie places that Llandrindod, Builth and greater Powys have to offer.

Café’s & Lunch Spots –

1.      Cwtch Café, Builth Wells – This family-run, independent café sits happily in the middle of the Market Town, with bright and welcoming window displays to tempt you in. Their classic café menu comprises of home-cooked cakes, sausage rolls, sandwiches and more. Welcoming and homey, there is a lovely little area for children (who are more than welcome) to explore. https://www.facebook.com/cwtchbuilthwells/

2.      Herb Garden Community Café, Llandrindod – Tucked away in Station Crescent, this Community Café focuses on fresh, local produce and has a wonderful variety of Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten Free lunch options available. Soup and daily lunch specials run alongside their regular menu. Although a little dated, the staff are always friendly and the comfy sofas in the window are the coveted spot! https://www.herbgardencafe.co.uk/about/

3.      Spencer’s Brasserie, Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells – As the large and very green hotel up the road in Llandrindod Wells, you really can’t miss it. Spencer’s is your classic Brasserie, offering up a wide selection of light lunch and evening meal options. My children would definitely recommend the Ice Cream Sundae’s as an extra special treat. It does get popular here – especially in their lovely conservatory that overlooks the town – so make sure you book if you need a large table. https://www.metropole.co.uk/food-and-drink/spencers-brasserie/
